Saskatchewan Waterfowl Hunt

Rough Gear > Federal High Impact Shot
Rough Cooking > Slow Roast Goose with Cranberry, Chanterelle and Wild Rice Stuffing

Today Thomas teams up with first time waterfowler Katelyn Larson near the town of Humbolt Saskatchewan. With a thriving population of 5,500 residents the town of Humbolt is located just 70 miles east of Saskatoon, right in the middle of some of the best prairie pothole habitat imaginable.

The potholes of Southern Saskatchewan can provide some of the best wing shooting imaginable. With flocks of ducks often resembling swarms of bees the action can be fast and furious.

During prime years the pothole region is capable of producing up to 50% of North America’s duck population. Between 50 and 90% of the original potholes, along with 10s of thousands of acres of native grasslands, have already been lost; mostly due to reclamation for farmland.

Protection of the prairie pothole region is essential to sustainability of the entire Mississippi flyway.
