Alberta Waterfowl

Today the Canada in the Rough™ team is back in South Central Alberta near the Centennial city of Brooks for some “prairie pothole” waterfowl action.

Located at the extreme northwestern limit of the prairie pothole region – often referred to as “the duck factory of North America” – the area around Brooks boasts some of the best migratory bird hunting in North America. This is a major stopover for many species of ducks as well as abundant numbers of Canada geese.

Open seasons include Mallard Ducks, Canada Geese, Snow Geese, White Fronted Geese, and Ross’s Goose. Be sure to check local regulations to ensure that you have all the necessary permits before venturing into the field.
