Badland Mulies

Rough Gear > Compound Bows
Rough Cooking > Garbage Can Venison Haunch

In this episode, Thomas and the Canada In The Rough™ team travel to the badlands of Alberta for some exciting "spot and stalk" mule deer action with a compound bow. Alberta boasts some of the largest mule deer on the continent with many harvested deer pushing the 300 pound mark and scoring up too 200 Boone & Crocket inches.

The term "badlands" is a direct English translation of the term first used by French explorers when they first stumbled across this bleak uninviting landscape in the mid 1700s. The French called it "les mauvais terre".

Chef Michael Olson works his culinary magic as he roasts a whole venison haunch – in a garbage can! Rough Gear takes a look at the modern hunting compound bow and shows you some important things to consider before your next purchase.

We also get a chance to take a close up look at some dinosaur digs in this ancient river delta.

Please join us on this adventure into "les mauvais terre", the badlands of Alberta.
