Rough Gear > Hunting Knives
Rough Cooking > Giant Trappers Sized Breakfast

In this episode the Canada In The Rough™ Team goes to school; fur trapping school that is, to examine just how the modern day fur industry maintains the sustainable and wise use of this important and abundant resource.

Almost from the time that explorers first set foot on the shores of Canada commerce has been the foundation of this great nation. And the foundation of commerce in Canada started with the founding of the Northwest Company and the Hudson Bay Company and the evolution of the fur trade.

Chef Michael Olson will get your mouth watering as he whips up a giant trappers sized breakfast of wild game sausage, pancakes, and eggs; all topped with some of Thomas's special maple syrup. Then Rough Gear takes a look at some of the specialized tools used for skinning and fleshing these valuable pelts.

Follow along as Thomas discovers how trappers are true stewards of this valuable natural resource and how trappers continue to play a vital role in sustainable wildlife management.
