Artic Cat ATV

Any serious outdoors person will agree that spending some hard earned cash on an ATV is one of the best hunting investments you will ever make.  It makes that long dark trek to your treestand with your firearms and equipment a lot more enjoyable and might even let you catch an extra few minutes of sleep.

When it comes time to getting your game out of the bush the benefits are obvious.  Hauling that whitetail or dragging moose quarters have made more than one hunter long for an ATV.

Whether you’re in the market for your first ATV or looking to upgrade there are a few important features to keep in mind.  The ATV itself should allow for enough ground clearance for the terrain you will most frequently encounter and paying a bit more for an automatic transmission will make for a more enjoyable ride.

Full floor plates keep you safe from brush and debris, while skid plates are necessary for rugged or rocky terrain.  They will handle that extra abuse without making frequent trips to the repair shop.  Four wheel drive with both a high and low range combined with plenty of engine to handle heavy loads will get you in with your gear and out with your game even under the toughest conditions.  And don’t forget to look for a model with plenty of racks, tiedowns, and accessories that will keep you and your cargo safe and secure.

Many regions of Canada now offer easily accessible well maintained ATV trails for beginners and seasoned trail busters alike.  Stay on trails wherever possible to be kind to the environment. If you have to go off road to pull that bull moose out of the bush do so with care to ensure minimal human footprint is left behind.

So hop on your ATV for some great early season scouting, or take an ATV vacation and see even more of the beauty that our great country has to offer.
